A crisis in the monarchy as a royal prince wants to marry the divorcee with whom he’s been carrying on an adulterous aff air.
Can the royal family survive?
No, not events of the past decade or so, but those leading up to the Edward VIII’s Abdication in 1936.
The play, set at Marlborough House, focuses on the private family drama surrounding Edward’s desire to marry Wallis Simpson, a divorced American woman.
It depicts the conflict between the King’s personal desires and his duty to the crown, and the Royal Family’s struggle to navigate the political and social implications of the crisis.
